Prepare Before Carpet Installation, such as with Empire Today

When you want to install wall-to-wall carpet, you can either do it yourself or have the help of a professional flooring company like Empire Today. In both cases, you can do some initial steps to prepare for the installation.

The first step is to measure the room to help you determine how much carpet you need to purchase. When measuring the room, you should be sure to add on several inches to both the length and width measurement in order to ensure you have enough carpeting for the doorways and thresholds. Keep in mind that carpeting typically comes in widths between 12 feet and 15 feet.

You will need to have the carpet seamed for rooms which are wider than 15 feet, and professional installation, such as Empire Flooring, is often required for seamed carpets so that they qualify for the manufacturer's warranty. The next preparatory step in the installation process is to check the subfloor for any squeaks before you install the carpet.
